Working with Gracious Living

To help you envision the many ways in which Gracious Living can transform your design ideas into reality, listed below are the various steps of a design project, some or all of which may pertain to your individual plan.

  1. Meet for preliminary consultation to assess scope of project, phasing, and extent of need for Gracious Living services.
  2. Sign Letter of Agreement, outlining agreed-upon services, and Terms and Conditions document.
  3. Review your design needs and/or architectural plans; discuss/revise any problem areas.
  4. Develop floor plans for your consideration; revise as necessary.
  5. Recommend placement of existing and possible new furniture for best use of space, view, etc.
  6. Assist with and facilitate development of designs for custom cabinetry (kitchen, bath), paneling, closet configurations, entertainment units, home office and library walls, trim, moulding, and fireplace surrounds.
  7. Review lighting plan and alternative lighting sources.
  8. Introduce you to the most current selection of hard surface and decorative products, including stone, specialty tiles, carpet, area rugs, window coverings, laminates, furnishings, and accessories, etc.
  9. Develop paint color schemes that coordinate with fabrics and adjacent rooms.
  10. Schedule project from start to finish (or to extent desired by client), paying careful attention to all details, regardless of size and scope of project.
  11. Recommend professional subcontractors and installers to perform required work. All suggested providers are licensed and bonded and perform their work in a professional and timely manner.
  12. Accompany client to view and make actual purchases of materials and furnishings; alternately, act as buying agent for client. Samples of some items available on approval.
  13. Design custom window treatments and/or bedding ensembles and arrange for production and installation.
  14. Consult on your behalf with subcontractors and vendors on any required plan changes; schedule, arrange, and supervise work as necessary.
  15. Keep you informed of order status and installation schedule progress.
  16. Remain available to consult with you on additions to your original project or to expand the scope of your project.
