To integrate kitchen and cooks into great room activities, the cabinets and space-wasting soffit over the kitchen peninsula were removed. New cabinets, refrigerator facing, and trim in knotty alder are both appealingly rustic and durable. Beams and posts were wrapped with alder for a more natural look. Pendant lights and wrought iron swivel bar stools with leather seats add stylish touches.
