Design Goal
Create a gracious primary residence that accommodates clients’ empty nest status and eventual retirement with space for guests and entertaining. Optimize energy efficiency and views from south-facing site.
Challenges
Remain within fixed construction bid and strict decorating budget, blending clients’ existing formal furnishings with current more casual lifestyle. Blend with location and design of existing garage/apartment.
Designer’s Role
Working closely with draftsman, structural engineer, contractor, and subcontractors, Gracious Living planned, designed, and decorated the entire home from ground up, including exterior and interior appearance, space plan, and materials selection.
The Result
An inspiring yet comfortable 3,600-square-foot home with main-floor living, both spacious and intimate spaces for family and entertaining, and expansive, south-facing views and energy gain.
