One-time Storage Area Transformed into Sophisticated Kitchen

A vacant, 1,200-square-foot storage area above a yacht broker’s office was transformed into an inviting apartment for the business owners seeking to downsize in a downtown location. The kitchen was placed on the water side for cooks and guests to take in the view. Tall cabinetry and textural grass shades help to visually increase the height of existing windows that are proportionally short for the tall, open space. A glass collection in display nooks placed above the windows raise their perceived height further and dress up the design. An anchoring light fixture, warm wood tones, and a curvaceous island help the work zone to blend harmoniously with the adjacent main living area.
