Design Goal
Assist homeowners with final design and furnishings selection for home under construction in the Pacific Northwest. Fashion a light-filled, traditional yet comfortable environment for living and entertaining.
Challenges
The design of the new home and many of the hard surface materials (e.g., tile, countertops, etc.,) in a light, neutral palette had already been selected by the client. Also, the clients possessed a large selection of furniture collected over the years they wanted to incorporate into their new home. And, with the clients living out of state, all needed to be accomplished via email, voicemail, and several site visits by the clients.
Designer’s Role
Gracious Living was hired to help finalize the design of the new home, pulling together newly selected materials and existing furnishings and accessories into a complementary whole. Working in conjunction with the clients and their builder, Gracious Living introduced color, accent lighting fixtures, and new furnishings to give the home a familiar yet fresh appeal and add warmth to the neutral backdrop.
The Result
A bright, cohesive, new home anchored by familiar objects, infused with fresh accents, and achieved within the client’s designated budget.
