Design Goal
Redesign an uninspiring attic to resemble a ship’s interior, with plenty of living and sleeping space for the guests that seem to come with beach house ownership. Include a small bathroom.
Challenges
Segment the narrow room into zones for games and television watching with flexible furnishings that provide for sleeping as well. Find space to include a bath.
Designer’s Role
Reconfigure space to include all desired functions and accomplish the homeowners’ goal of a ship-like interior.
The Result
Unique architectural features and accessories create an inviting, upbeat interior, with plenty of room for guests to play and sleep. A dormer was added to a nearby closet, creating enough space to recommission it as a bathroom.
